How We Work
01 / Dialogue
With Artesia, every job always begins with a conversation. You bring us your inspiration, your blueprints, and a sense of how your clients intend to live in their space. Based on this, we want to discuss your client’s budget and the possibilities available to them. We listen carefully to ensure that our work aligns seamlessly with your goals. This stage usually takes about 1-2 weeks.
02 / Develop
Next, we take your ideas and begin to transform them into reality. We collaborate with you to develop precise drawings of the concept, establishing a clear narrative while providing transparent outlines for the project’s investment and timeline. If the situation dictates, we can also produce hand-rendered drawings of a particular piece.
03 / Distill
With the design finalized and your deposit secured, the concept transitions from paper to the workshop. Your project is officially placed on our production schedule, and the craftsmanship begins. From this point, final delivery usually happens in 8-10 weeks.
04 / Deploy
In our shop, with unwavering attention to detail, we convert materials from their raw state into your cabinets. Once they are complete, we install them in your home, producing a space that not only meets your exacting specifications but also fundamentally enhances your experience.

How do you work with designers/builders?

Our preferred method of working with designers or builders is to position them between the homeowner and us. They bring clients to us and run the design and/or the project. Sometimes, we refer designers or builders to a client in need. In these referral cases, the client will be billed directly by Artesia, as the customer approached us first.
What do I need to bring to the first meeting?

We usually like to have a concept sketch, pictures, an idea, or a blueprint. Feel free to bring whatever you have; we’d like to see it all.
Do you charge a design fee?

We do charge a design fee, but that works as a credit towards your job if you proceed.
Do you offer trade pricing or a commission structure?

Established, repeat customers who are designers or builders can get trade pricing. Our goal is for you to be able to make a profit from our cabinetry.
Our goal is for established repeat customers who are designers or builders to be more like partners, and if this is you, we will make every effort to accommodate your needs. However, this depends on you providing the information we need in a timely manner.
Yes, for sure! Just communicate to us what you need and we will set up a home tour at a residence with our cabinets. We can also provide samples if need be.

Therefore, we are committed to providing quality products on or ahead of schedule. In fact, delivering on time is something we protect. Throughout the project, we routinely communicate about the schedule and provide progress reports, so that you know exactly where we are with your project.
Sometimes, unforeseen circumstances can occur. We don’t like surprises either, so we will make every attempt to mitigate the effects of these through clear communication and disciplined workflow.

Top-quality cabinetry starts with the best materials. We select only premium lumber and hardware that meet our meticulous standards, then coat them with durable Milesi waterborne finishes, ensuring your cabinetry can withstand the rigors of daily life.
Craftsmanship
Premium materials alone can’t guarantee a good result. At Artesia, we respect the craft, blending a strong woodworking heritage, hand craftsmanship, and modern precision tools. All of our drawers are constructed using solid wood with dovetail joinery for proven durability, and we use soft-close hinges for all of our doors for smooth, silent functionality.
Timeframes
We know that a beautiful end product is only part of the equation. It is also crucial that your cabinets are installed in your kitchen, not sitting in our shop, when your project deadlines arrive. Through clear communication and disciplined workflow, we work to help you meet even the toughest deadlines.
Our Story
Artesia’s foundation springs from a dialogue between three distinct American landscapes. Our story begins in the Midwest, a region synonymous with quarter-sawn oak and other sturdy hardwoods, and a design sensibility rooted in utility and heritage. Raised in this environment, our founder, Andrew, also honed an appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and a strong respect for materials at Peters Cabinetry, a workshop run by his father.
Our aesthetic was further expanded by a strong connection to the Pacific Northwest, an environment where towering firs, pines, and spruces stretch skyward, and a reverence for the warmth of softwoods developed.
Today, this marriage of influences finds its expression in the sun-drenched environments of Las Cruces and El Paso. In the heart of the Southwest, we translate the enduring durability of Midwestern hardwoods and the scale of Northwest softwoods into custom cabinetry, millwork, and furniture designed for the unique demands of desert living. Against a backdrop of stark, sweeping landforms and expansive skies, our woodwork introduces a rich, tactile warmth to the rugged beauty of the Mesilla Valley.
